Davis Mountains State Park Couples Photoshoot

I grew up coming to Fort Davis every year. My partner actually proposed at the sunset overlook in the state park! All that said, it holds a lot of dear memories for me, which made it extra special getting to share that magic with R.J. and Cailey for their celebratory honeymoon couples’ session.

R.J. was in town for an elk hunting trip with one of our mutual friends, Logan, of Cliff & Cactus Outfitters. Logan guides hunting trips all around the world, and on this particular weekend was assisting R.J. with getting an elk during he and Cailey’s West Texas trip. (Spoiler alert: they had success!).

Unfortunately, during this weekend, the sunset overlook was closed. So while we weren’t able to take photos there, we did have plenty of other incredible locations to choose from for their Davis Mountains State Park portrait session. Here are a few of my favorite moments from our morning together.

Planning your own trip to Fort Davis and Davis Mountains State Park? Here is a quick list of my top recommendations of things to do in the area while you’re here:

  1. Attend a Star Party at the McDonald Observatory

  2. Take a day trip to Balmorhea State Park

  3. Celebrating something? Book an adventurous portrait session
